The Sierra de Guara, an introduction

The Sierra de Guara is located in the north east of Spain in the Province of Aragon, about sixty kilometers away from the south of the Pyrénées. Its highest peak : the Tozal de Guara (2077 metres) offers two very different perspectives. In the north it reveals huge plateaux dotted with small deserted villages, rich in history. On the southern side incomparable beautiful canyons are hidden (Rio Vero, Mascùn, barranco of Otin, gorges of Balcès, Gorgas Negras) and make it a star attraction of the region of the heights of Aragon.

The Natural Park of « la Sierra de Guara y Cañones de Guara » has exceptional assets : its mediterranean climate, its flora, its wildlife, especially its birdlife. It also offers plenty of choice for trekking, discovering ethnographic and architectural treasures, cave paintings, without forgetting to mention the medieval city of Alquezar.
